Well, Crap (Drawing Problems)
Ok, first off, for those who don't care about the finer details, I may be posting some fillers while I sort this out, and I'll definitely be playing the "be nice, it's my birthday" card in such a case.
As those who visit my DA Account are aware, I've recently been taking a life drawing class and am becoming much more aware of proper propotions and the like. I am finally really learning about anatomy and all the little rules of thumbs for where things go.
This should be a good thing, and I guess it is, but it seems to be causing me some problems with drawing EGS. I'm suddenly REALLY aware of inconsistencies in my character designs. Everything I draw in the EGS style right now looks very wrong to me, and looking at past comics for reference isn't helping me because, let's face it, EGS's style is inconsistent.
The inconsistency isn't new, but... I don't even know how to describe it. It's like it's underlined, highlighted and pointed at by various loud obnoxious people (Tomo from Azumanga? Anyone?) for me now. I'm familiar with the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but the anatomy in EGS feels broken to me.
I'm not saying I want to give them all tiny eyes or anything, but What I AM saying is that I really feel a strong need to tweak my system for drawing them, or I'm not going to be happy at all while doing the comic. I wasn't really happy with how the last comic looked, and the most recent one being made has been a grueling case of drawing and redrawing and never being satisfied.
Argh. Enough rambling. Long story short: I've encountered something I consider to be a major problem, and I need to do something about it.
