Dan's Flash Practice This page is a way for me to organize and share certain things that I make with Flash while learning the software. My eventual goal is to reach a point of expertise with Flash that allows me to make eye-catching advertisements along with other profitable animations. While I do enjoy the idea of making flash cartoons at some point, my primary goal with flash is advertising and making useful applications. Nevertheless, flash cartoons may happen some day, as I've always wanted to make them. |

Emotional Alien - 12/22/2004 - 5kb - No Sound This if my first flash animation. All it is, really, is some alien's head being emotional, but I'm still proud of it. And he probably will get a body someday, as I'll need to practice having animating arms and hands eventually. |

Present for Dan - 12/26/2004 - 9kb - No Sound I originally intended to use sketches as a basis for making an entire Filler comic in flash, but I was quickly reminded of how new I am at vector art. Still, I learned a lot about tweening, the pencil tool, and animating in general from making this small animation. |

The Cliff: Part 1? - 12/27/2004 - 52kb - Sound I made this little blobby dude because its, well, simple. This is my first attempt at having sound in an animation, and while the voices are low quality (as I have low quality sound recording hardware), I believe I did an adequate job of matching the motions to the sounds. This has the addition "part 1" to the name because I hope to add an additional scene to it along with proper loading and credits scenes. |

Nanase (and hidden Grace!) flash ad - 02/28/2004 - 36kb - No Sound This is a flash ad I made for, well, advertising. I was worried about it being 35.5kb, but then I noticed there used to be an ad on the site I made it for over 60kb, so I quickly got over it ^_^ Be sure to move your mouse cursor over it for a special treat! |

My Name is Chris Layfield - 01/30/2006 - 12kb - Sound I found a tutorial on lip syncing in flash, and I decided I wanted to try it out. KeenCAST had just premiered, so I decided to snag a bit of sound from the first podcast, and that bit of sound happened to be Chris Layfield of Zap! introducing himself. The animated character is based on the image that appears next to Chris's posts at KeenCAST. I suspected, and later had confirmed by Chris himself, that I got the hair all wrong. That's fine, however, seeing as I wasn't practicing animating hair at the time ^_^ As for the shifty eyes and faces after the dialogue, I wanted to practice the technique I used more, but didn't want to record or lip sync any more dialogue, hence the weird looks. |
